There’re a lot of home remedies on the internet but the science behind them are a little blurry so here are some real home remedies with their explanation.
Most of the home remedies are actually placebos but how to tell? Well, to start there should be an explanation for each one. At least a good theory so we can understand the process, otherwise, it is just good faith.
Real home remedies
The first of the real home remedies starts with bedbugs. A problem that most likely you won’t even perceive or notice, but it’s something really perturbing.
Scattering fresh bean leaves around a sleeping area can help kill bedbugs and prevent infestations.
This is due to the fact that those leaves have microscopic filaments that can either impale and kill bedbugs, or trap them.
So, any other plant with those microscopic filaments can produce the same effect.
Here’s a Russian tradition to keep milk from going sour. They use a frog.
I know. It seems too weird. But the reason behind this craziness is that amphibians produce antimicrobial secretions that cover their skin. This secretion protects the frog against pathogens.
So when you add a frog in your milk, those secretions may keep bacteria and microbes from spoiling the milk.
Although it might work, I definitely don’t recommend you to try this.
There are traditions between Egyptians, Chinese, Indians, and Africans where they used honey to treat a long list of diseases starting with ulcers.
Honey was also used to treat burns, amputations and any other type of wound. It could even make a cough less frequent, less severe and less bothersome.
Actually, this is not surprising since Honey has great qualities. Like anti-inflammatory and disinfectant.
Because of this, honey should be something you eat every day with fruit, with oats or other healthy recipes.
Garlic is the ideal food for this job. It’s antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial. Freshly crushed garlic also contains allicin, a compound that can kill some germs on contact.
So, don’t doubt on using it.
The worst thing on vacations in a tropical country is to have mosquitoes everywhere. A useful way to keep the mosquitoes away is to crush and rub the leaves of the American beauty berry plant (callicarpa americana) over yourself.
This plant contains three compounds that repel mosquitoes: callicarpenal, intermedeol, and spathulenol.
With that thought, you can also use any other natural herb that also has any of those compounds.
People used to use ginger as a cure-all for colds, stomach aches, and menstruation pains. Ginger is a safe and natural way to treat nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.
Ginger may also help reduce colon inflammation and ultimately reduce a person’s risk for colorectal cancer. Actually, there’s research about ginger that confirms it’s power to reduce any type of cancer. Here is more info about it [Ginger and Cancer].
Those were my list of real home remedies, although I don’t recommend you to apply the frog one, the other ones can be really useful. Actually, the ginger, honey, and garlic can be really useful for treating several diseases so try to add them into your daily diet.
I know there must be more real home remedies but for now, those will be enough.
Even more, I could refer to every natural and fresh food because each one of those has great properties for treating a disease. So, every natural food is a real home remedy.
